iPhone SIM Only Plans

For owners of iPhones, sim only for iPhones deals are very useful. These deals are tailored for iPhone users and cater specifically to their needs. Typically you will want a plan with a high data allowance or unlimited internet to make the most of the great connectivity the iPhone 4 or any other model offers

There are quite a lot of tailored sim only deals for iPhones available, offered by a number of different network providers. These deals offer minutes, text, internet as well as music and Wi-Fi. Some of the deals, such as the Monkey plans from Orange, include free music as well.

The deal is that you will have to have your own iPhone and the network service provider will provide the sim. You could get your sim free iPhone directly from Apple. Or, you could use an old iPhone model for which the contract has gotten over. If you want, you can also keep your phone number. Since you won’t be paying for the cost if the iPhone, the sim only deals are definitely cheaper than the ones which provide the handset.

There is considerable variety of sim only for iPhones deals on offer as well. You have monthly roll on plans, pay as you go plans or even longer term contracts. With the monthly plans, you will be paying 10 pounds to twenty pounds per month for few hundred text and minutes as well as anywhere between 250 MB to 1 GB of data. Some times these 10 pounds and 15 pounds pay monthly deals have free internet and Wi-Fi as add on which make the deal even cheaper.

And of course if you find the network unsatisfactory or if you find a better iPhone deal offered by some other network you could go for that. The only notice period you need to give is thirty days.

If instead of pay monthly, you go for longer term contracts, such as a 12 months iPhone sim only deal, you will pay lesser and get more text and minutes per month. If you do not mind sticking with one network, you could go for this option. After all, sticking with one network doesn’t mean you have to stick with your phone. So if you find that Apple has upgraded and has come out with a new iPhone model which you have to have, you can just buy it directly from Apple and stick with your current sim (or go for a different network with the same number; whatever you chose).

This is hardly the case with mobile phone contracts which provide the handsets. First of all you do not have a choice of the handset and contract together. If you want a mobile contract with iPhone, you will have to stick with the deals on offer.

What is worse is that since these deals are for a period of two years, you will be stuck with your iPhone model for that period. For, after all you cannot break your mobile phone contract without dire consequences (like bad credit record, loss of money and all that). And if, with in the period of your contract, Apple brings out a new iPhone model, you will have to watch your friends and others show off the new iPhone while you are stuck with the old model.

The mobile contracts also become a problem if your contract has expired and the new Apple model hasn’t come out yet. You will have an iPhone in hand without any network deals.

In both these cases, in fact in any case, going for sim only for iPhones makes sense. You don’t have to switch phones unless you want to. Neither do you need to stick with a handset, network or deal unless you want to. At the time of writing Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile, O2, Virgin and 3 all gave deals geared towards SIM only iPhone usage.

iPhone 4 SIM only and Micro SIM cards

If you have an iPhone 4 or plan to buy an iPhone 5 then you need a different type of SIM card called a micro SIM. iPhone 4 SIM only deals are different from iPhone 3Gs of earlier models which take standard sized SIM cards. SIM only iPhone 4 deals are available from all the major providers and typically offer good internet allowances or even unlimited internet.
